Natural Beauty Secrets

Keeping young and beautiful is not about looking like an airbrushed image, its not about freezing your expressions, its about letting your wellness and vitality shine through- and a healthy body and mind is the first step to natural beauty.... so....

SLEEP WELL!

How can you look good if you are tired? Scientists have even proved that beauty sleep is no myth! If you are having trouble sleeping, perhaps acupuncture can help.... there are lots of reasons for insomnia and holistic treatment can be fantastic.  Also try a foot bath or foot massage before bed, it can really help quiet the mind... tummy massage can also be great, and will also benefit the digestion- get some heat going with lots of circular (clockwise) rubbing!

EAT WELL!

Plenty of fruit and veg and foods full of antioxidants- Goji berries are a traditional Chinese Medicinal which have been used for natural beauty for centuries! They are full of antioxidants and B vitamins.  Plenty of Omega 3 oils are also great for the skin and health.

DRINK!

Not alcohol- which contributes to wrinkles, redness and ageing, but WATER! And herbal teas- white and green teas are full of antioxidants, and have an anti-inflammatory action... Rose bud tea is drunk by many women in China 'to make them beautiful' as in Chinese medicine it is very blood moving and therefore gives the circulation a boost (it is also great if you get period pains and clotting) but don't overdo it you just need one or 2 buds in your tea or hot water per day...

MOVE!

Exercise stimulates blood circulation and a good flow of oxygen and nutrition to your face- and has also been shown to improve collagen production!  Aerobic exercise has countless benefits for health and beauty (and weight control of course!) and it reduces the stress hormones in your body, while release the feel good endorphins (yay!) and helping a good night's sleep.... Don't forget too that being sedentary in front of a computer has many effects on your mind, body and face.  Set a reminder on your computer to get up and stretch every 15-20 minutes! If your neck and shoulders are tight and your posture is poor, then the blood and qi circulation to your face will be restricted.  Also check your facial expressions- often when concentrating on a screen we unconsciously squint or frown- making you look unfriendly and unattractive and contributing to unnecessary WRINKLES - not a good look!  Massaging your face, preferably with organic oils, and twice a day if possible, is great too for boosting the circulation to the skin, encouraging lymph drainage and reducing puffiness.  Use acupressure points and really get this going!  Facial exercises or 'facial yoga' can also be great for preventing double chins and wrinkles...

DON'T...

...Smoke, and don't worship the sun- as if you don't already know that both dry the skin and cause premature wrinkles...!  Fresh air and sunshine definitely has its benefits though- so don't fear the sun, just don't go crazy and bake... Fake tans can also contain some crazy chemicals which can be very drying and affect your skin, so be careful- maybe try some organic alternatives...? Or embrace pale beauty! Also Don't Stress! Stress has such a great impact on our welbeing, and our beauty too.  Guess what? Acupuncture can be fantastic for stress too... often people fall asleep with the needles in, or at least leave the table feeling lighter and 'zoned out' compared to when they arrived for treatment....
